Which North Carolina facilities made the U.S. News & World Report 2017-18 rankings of best hospitals in the country?
When it comes to hospital care, North Carolinian's have a top national collection close to home to choose, according to new U.S. News & World Report 2017/2017 rankings.
In a listing of 4,500 plus medical centers in the U.S. with 25 specialties, four Medical Centers in North Carolina ranked on a national level in multiple specialties, best hospitals in the country.
The rankings also looked at the best hospitals that each state had to offer, and 20 hospitals made it to the honor roll, this distinction is given to facilities who deliver exceptional treatment for multiple specialties.
The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, topped the honor roll as the raining winner. The hospital was ranked across 15 specialties and ranked in the top five for 13 of the specialties. Cleveland Clinic was runner up and taking the bronze was Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore edging up the one spot year over year. All are impressive Medical Centers with exceptional talent.
In North Carolina, Duke University Hospital ranked as the number one hospital in the state and was ranked across 13 adults and 10 pediatric specialties and was recognized as being high performer in nine specialties.

The Triangle area would be certainly blessed to have just one national ranked Center but to have three facilities with world renowned talent is impressive. A major contribution of course is the University system, in addition the job market in the RTP area for biotech and medical engineers makes the area’s talent pool deep in supporting these hospitals. Coupled this with multiple national ranks as ‘The Best Place to Live’ also never hurts. With affordable housing and ample job opportunity it’s no wonder the Triangle area is growing. The area medical industry is expanding across the board and needs to recruit top talent at all levels to support them.
