Do I Really Need A Gym Membership
I am in my fifties, believe it or not, and have maintained my weight and well-being by ALWAYS having a gym membership. People who work out in gyms are my peeps! Think back with me for a moment to Genesis Health Club in Pleasant Valley Shopping Center, Beyond Fitness on Creedmoor Road, Capital Fitness in Glenwood South, Seaboard Fitness in downtown Raleigh. No matter where we've lived in Raleigh, I felt I had to belong to a gym. I am presently with LifeTime Fitness (all locations) which bought out LifeStyle Fitness.
I noticed the other day that Orange Theory, an indoor fitness club, is opening up in North Hills near BoneFish Grill. I am noticing more and more alternatives to gym memberships in the Triangle. There's Camp Gladiator, which I have tried and loved, Pure Barre which kicks butt, Blue Lotus Yoga which is heavenly and 12th State Cross Fit, which makes me feel like I'm ready for the Olympics! Now that our area has so many yoga and pilates studios, I'm beginning to re-think my dependence on gym memberships.
Am I limiting myself? Do I really need the same old thing? What are your thoughts? How and where do you spend your exercise dollars?
