Tips for Buying in a Sellers Market

  1. If you really want the house Make Your Best Offer - in a seller's market offer a low price on a home when you know there is competition to purchase, will probably result in someone else getting the home.

  2. Have your Finances in Order - be prequalified or better yet, get pre-approval for your mortgage.  Sellers want that assurance that you can close on the deal.

  3. Shop below your Max Budget - you may end up in a situation where you have to pay above list price, make sure you can.

  4. Move Quickly but don't make Snap Decisions - take the time to know what you want, so that when you see it your ready to act quickly.

  5. Be prepared to offer larger Earnest Money Deposits - earnest money indicates to the seller that you are serious about closing.

  6. Impatience could Wreck your Budget - be careful not to get caught up in a home you can't afford, no your limits and don't let emotion take over.

  7. Stay Calm - winning can become more important than doing the right thing.  Have a plan and stick to it.
