Last Christmas, I went to Charlotte for some holiday cheer and to see some friends who had relocated to the Queen City. 2017 had been a great year for real estate and with all the articles in Forbes
Termites In Raleigh
In a surprising turn of events, the temperature in Raleigh will hit above 80 for the first time this spring. And with the warm weather I am reminded of some of the downsides of living in the south. One of those is bugs. And specifically TERMITES. According to Moxie Pest Control, over $30 billion of home damage will be caused by termites this in the U.S. this year. That is a lot of tubes and chewing. Because bad luck comes in threes, I have had 3 recent transactions with termites. All were solved but most could have been avoided. One contractor shared with me that many homes are treated against termites but the cement slab front porch is not. Make sure to ask about porches and decks. If your home has a crawl space, a vapor barrier can also help prevent termite infestation. Never store firewood or cardboard (thanks Amazon delivery!) near the foundation of your home; it becomes a highway for termites to get in.
Most pest companies will come do a termite inspection and estimate for protection or treatment. Your home can be treated to protect against termites before they even start. I strongly recommend being proactive in this battle.
